About this event

Do you have questions about how to manage your U.S. finances and financial planning as an American living in Portugal? Let’s chat!

About this event

These days, it feels like more Americans than ever are planning (or would like) to move to Portugal from the U.S.

As someone born and raised in the Algarve, I totally understand the country’s appeal. After growing up here, I spent several years in the U.S. for school before eventually deciding to move home, drawn by the very things many of the Americans I meet tell me they love about the region:

the sun

the lifestyle

a sense of lightness that is very different from the intensity of the U.S.

But as a financial planner with Liberty Atlantic Advisors, I know the country can be challenging from a tax and financial planning perspective -- moving from the U.S. raises a lot of valid questions:

Can I keep my accounts based in the U.S.?

Will Portugal tax my retirement distributions?

How can I plan ahead with currencies fluctuating so wildly?

I’ve always managed my own finances. Why would I need a financial planner now?

How is working with a cross-border financial planner different from working with a “normal” one in the U.S.?

These are the types of questions that I’d love to discuss with you if you’re free for a coffee (or beverage of your choice) on Tuesday, November 18th.

While Liberty Atlantic Advisors is a cross-border financial planning firm offering ongoing comprehensive financial planning services, one of our core principles is rooted in supporting the U.S. expat community writ large, so if you have any questions whatsoever on the information I’ve covered above, please consider yourself welcome to book with me.

About Ricardo Jesus

Ricardo Jesus, MBA, was born and raised in the breathtaking Algarve in Portugal.

Growing up, his mother worked as a Portuguese tax provider, and he learned early on the importance of working diligently and building client relationships based on trust.

Ricardo secured full scholarships to attend Ole Miss and the University of Tulsa, Oklahoma in the U.S., earning his Bachelor’s and MBA (respectively) while playing D1 tennis.

After completing his education in the U.S., Ricardo returned home to settle in the Algarve and establish his career as a U.S. expat financial advisor. At Liberty Atlantic Advisors, he specializes in crafting financial strategies for the firm’s clients in Portugal.

His expertise covers financial and tax planning, alongside smart investment management.

With a knack for simplifying the complexities that accompany living in Portugal as an American, Ricardo forges strong client connections rooted in empathy for the expat experience, committing to his clients’ financial goals with the same intentional precision that he originally developed to end tennis rallies in his favor.
