**AIA — Artificial Intelligence Algarve**
In this talk, **[Tom Murphy](https://www.linkedin.com/in/tom-murphy-0a513/)** will presume you know nothing about AI, specifically Neural Networks (the tech behind most AI today). Without delving into the maths or tech behind them, he **will explain in simple English how AI works**.
We’ll discuss the theory, the practise and the problems with AI.
By the end you should have a good understanding of Neural Networks and why they need so much power, data and how they are built, used and abused.
**Equal parts entertaining and educational, this is AI for all.**

**Tom Murphy** founded Machine Learning Programs in 2018 and quickly built it into an award winning AI specialist company which was acquired by the UK’s largest data broker OpenGI in 2019. He remained CEO for 2 years, stepping back to the CTO position for 2 more before finally retiring to the Algarve in 2023. Specialising in Neural Networks he has given talks across Europe on AI, its uses, implementation, ethics and bias.
