About this event

Hello Builders,

We are thrilled to invite you to a unique opportunity to learn from one of Portugal’s most experienced startup operators.

In this special event, João Camarate, founder of GoContact, former CTO of Broadvoice, and angel investor, will share his journey of building and operating a startup in Portugal, expanding into the U.S. market, and the lessons learned along the way.

📍 This will also be the opening session of the AI Builders Club (ABC) in Porto.

🎯What we’ll cover:

From Portugal to the US The startup journey from inception in Portugal to international growth and integration into the U.S. market.

Two ecosystems in perspective Insights into market differences, culture, talent, investment, and regulation between Portugal/Europe and the U.S.

Operating like an “operator”: What it means in practice to lead product, technology, and growth teams. From building the company, scaling it, and navigating international waters.

AI & the new paradigm How AI is transforming startups and industries, João’s experiences with AI, and what it means for founders today. We’ll explore his past ventures, current projects, and the new fund through the lens of AI innovation.

Interactive Q&A Your chance to ask João questions directly — about launching a startup, entering the U.S. market, or scaling globally.

🎯 Why you can’t miss this:

• Real-world experience of an entrepreneur who has walked the full cycle: from idea to scale, from local to global.

• Actionable insights for early-stage founders who aspire to operate in both Portugal and the U.S.

• A truly inspiring session with someone who blends vision, product technology, growth, and internationalization.
