Welcome to The Happy Hour Book Club! 📚🍷 If you’re a book lover who enjoys mixing the pleasure of reading with a good happy hour, this is the club for you. Every two weeks, we’ll meet at a restaurant and chat about our current read over some food and drinks.
Expect a warm welcome, great food, great people, and a chance to share your thoughts on our current book. Participation is encouraged but never required. Feel free to dive into the discussion or simply sit back and enjoy a glass of wine.

What we’re reading: When She Returned by Lucinda Berry
Description: Kate Bennett vanished from a parking lot eleven years ago, leaving behind her husband and young daughter. When she shows up at a Montana gas station, clutching an infant and screaming for help, investigators believe she may have been abducted by a cult.
Kate’s return flips her family’s world upside down--her husband is remarried, and her daughter barely remembers her. Kate herself doesn’t look or act like she did before.
While the family tries to help Kate reintegrate into society, they discover truths they’ve been hiding from each other about their own relationships. But they aren’t the only ones with secrets. As the family unravels what happened to Kate, a series of shocking revelations shows that Kate’s return is more sinister than any of them could have imagined.
Bi-Weekly Reading: We will aim to read half the book by our September 10th meetup, and finish the book by our September 24th meetup.
Cost: There is no fee to sign up. You are simply responsible for paying for your meal at the restaurant.
Worry-Free Attendance: Falling behind on readings? Join us anyway for a great time (if you don’t mind a few spoilers!).
Location: A restaurant reservation will be made a few days before each meeting and the location will be announced.
Open Genre: From mysteries to memoirs, all book genres are on the table. Votes and suggestions are taken through our Instagram @happyhourbookclubporto and through Meetup discussions.
