About this event

Discover the ExoClock project and learn how to teach science through exoplanets!Exoplanet science in the classroom!

This workshop aims to show how high school teachers can bring exoplanet science in the classroom.

We will talk about ESA’s Ariel space mission, a mission planned to investigate 1000 exoplanets to better understand their nature. Exoplanets are fascinating, we have a lot of open questions: How do they look like? What are they made of? Are there planets similar to the Earth? (How unique is our planet, the Earth?)

Students through the ExoClock project (www.exoclock.space) can become active exoplanet researchers and become part of a real space mission.

We will demonstrate short activities that teachers can carry out in the class in order to integrate physics and mathematics concepts and also bring students close to exoplanet science.

We will also share how students can participate to the mission by observing real exoplanets and analyse these observations by using interactive tools. In this way, students can experience in practice how modern exoplanet scientists work and at the same time learn all about exoplanets.

Registration is free for high school teachers. A certificate of participation will be delivered at the end of the workshop. Registration is necessary in order to attend the event.

The workshop will be delivered by Anastasia Kokori, astronomy education and communication officer for the CSED, UCL and Ariel education coordinator.
