About this event

Seminar on Obesity & Depression. An initiative of World Obesity Day 2024 by the Nutrition & Metabolism Department @NOVA Medical School.Obesity is a chronic disease with increasing prevalence and associated morbidity, mortality and stigma. There is increasing evidence of a complex and bidirectional relationship between obesity and depression which post challenges to the understanding and treatment of both conditions. However, obesity and depression share common biological pathways that can provide novel insight about obesity phenotypes.

In March 2024, NOVA Medical School is hosting the NOVA Obesity Week — a set of activities to raise awareness of obesity, part of the World Obesity Day Europe initiatives. This seminar will cover the relationship between obesity and depression, a key rising issue within the obesity epidemic. Our goal is to raise public awareness of the fact that obesity is a disease and should be tackled as such.

If you want to increase your knowledge about obesity and its intersection with mental health do not miss this opportunity and apply — but hurry, as spaces are free, but limited.
