Artificial Intelligence’s role in our lives is becoming more and more significant, and all indications suggest that it will soon become vital. Incorporating AI in education is imperative because no matter our age, we all need to be aware of what AI is, what its impact can be, and how to prepare for the upcoming “AI-first” future.

We need to be begin educating our children to help them become ready for a world with AI. The next generation need to understand both the opportunities and the risks that these technologies bring. They need to be able to engage in a society-wide debate about how these technologies are applied and where there should be oversight.

In this talk, we will discuss how education should respond in the age of AI, why it’s important that schools address the impact of AI, and share some of the ways that this can be done effectively.

**Presenter: Dale Lane**

Dale is a Chief Architect for IBM with an interest in supporting the education of science and technology in schools. He spent several years as a developer of IBM’s artificial intelligence platform, Watson, helping to create several of the technologies. He is the author of “Machine Learning for Kids”, and the creator of the supporting website [https://machinelearningforkids.co.uk/](https://machinelearningforkids.co.uk/) which is used by children around the world to learn about artificial intelligence by creating and playing with machine learning technologies.
