About this event

With effect from 6 April 2023, the SEIS scheme is being expanded so that start-ups can raise up to £250,000 under the scheme, a £100k increase from the current position. In addition, the time period to use the scheme is being increased from 2 years to 3 years and the upper limit of a company’s gross assets immediately prior to shares being issued is increasing to £350,000. Early stage start-ups may be able to use the expanded scheme to leverage extra angel investment alone or as part of a wider round.

This talk by law firm [Buckworths](https://www.buckworths.com/) who specialise in advising start-ups, will look at the rules of the updated SEIS scheme, how SEIS interacts with EIS and VC fundraising, and how to leverage the scheme to maximise the valuation and/or size of a funding round.

Presenter and founder of Buckworths, Michael Buckworth is also the author of [Built on Rock](https://www.buckworths.com/built-on-rock-michael-buckworth/), the entrepreneur’s legal guide to start-up success. Advising on the risks and pitfalls to avoid when setting up your own business, this book makes the complicated aspects of start-up law simple. Chapter one is now available to download for free, click [here](https://www.buckworths.com/built-on-rock-michael-buckworth/) to find out how you to build your business on rock.
