About this event

**OPENING OF THE BOOK CLUB:** WED JUNE 12

**DISCUSSION:** WED JULY 17 @10AM, ONLINE

You’ll have 5 weeks to read the book, you can join anytime. The official meeting will be July 17 at 10am.

\-\-\-\-

We are excited to announce the formation of our NEW BOOK CLUB, where we will combine the joy of reading with thoughtful discussions over breakfast ☕️

**THE BOOK CLUB CONCEPT**

Each month, we’ll read a carefully curated fiction book under 300 pages.

The selection will be based on the group’s current feelings and ongoing conversations, addressing various themes such as anxiety, being overwhelmed, relationships, confidence, and more.

**The June book club will be hosted by Paola, and the chosen book is Welcome to the Hyunam-Dong Bookshop by Hwang Bo-Reum (2022).**

After a life of ticking all the boxes, Yeong-ju, now in her mid-30s, realizes she’s not happy. Overwhelmed, she decides to leave her corporate job and distant husband to pursue a long-forgotten dream: Open a Bookshop! And lived happily ever after….

Not at all! After deciding to pursue her dream, Yeong-ju has to face the consequences of her choices and run a business she knows nothing about!

The book takes place in the Hyunam-Dong Bookshop, and we’ll learn about different characters that visit the bookshop; we’ll learn from each character how they face diversity in life: work-life balance, relationships, parents’ expectations, and finding their purpose in life.

**FORMAT**

1. **Monthly Reading:** We’ll read the chosen book throughout the month

2. **Discussion:** During our meetings, we will discuss the plot and delve into the second layer of the narrative that aligns with our chosen reflection topic.

3. **WhatsApp Group:** We have a dedicated WhatsApp group chat where we can share thoughts and insights and engage in discussions as we read.
